Cape Town – Double murder accused, Limpopo pig farmer Zachariah Olivier, broke down sobbing in court on Friday, 22 November 2024, where he was scheduled to apply for bail.
Olivier and two others are accused of killing Mariah Makgatho and Lucia Ndou and throwing their bodies in a pigsty.
He and his co-accused – Rudolph De Wet and William Musoro – have been in custody since August.
A video posted on X by @CapricornFMNews, shows Olivier alone in the dock in the Mankweng Magistrates Court near Polokwane. He is clearly struggling to contain his emotions, while in the background those in the public gallery are asked to rise for the presiding magistrate.

De Wet and Musoro, who have reportedly abandoned their bail applications, are expected to appear in court again with Olivier in February 2025.
Olivier appeared in court alone today following an earlier unsuccessful bid in the Polokwane High Court to get access to a statement he provided to police on his arrest.
CapricornFM reported that today’s bail application would be postponed.
