Cape Town — Two men have allegedly been arrested following the assassination of notorious underground kingpin, Mark Lifman, on Sunday morning.
Lifman was reportedly shot and killed outside Garden Route Mall in George where his attackers had fled the scene. Police alleged that the suspects were driving a white VW Golf with fake license plates, IOL reported.
Lifman was known for his involvement in Cape Town’s underground security and nightclub world, where he became infamous. His death came amid an ongoing High Court case. At the time of the shooting, he was not accompanied by bodyguards, which he usually had with him when he was out in public.
According to TimesLIVE, Lifman was due to appear in the Western Cape High Court on Monday 4 November in connection with the 2017 murder of “steroid kingpin” Brian Wainstein in Constantia.
It is believed he was shot in the face by two men, believed to be from Russia, and were arrested between Willowmore in the Eastern Cape and Uniondale in the Western Cape.
Following the shooting, Lifman’s body was covered by a white body bag. He was found laying behind a blue bakkie and police tape had closed off the scene.
