Cape Town – Deputy President of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party Dr John Hlophe has confirmed that Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, who recently left the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), is not a member of the MK party but is free to join.
Mkhwebane, who joined the EFF in 2023 and resigned as a Member of Parliament to spend time with her family, has sparked speculation about joining Jacob Zuma’s MK party.
Hlophe welcomed the possibility of her joining.

“Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane is not a member of The MK Party, but she is at liberty to join uMkhonto weSizwe Party just like every South African, including you journalists,” Hlophe said.
Meanwhile, MK party Chief Whip Mzwanele Manyi expressed interest in recruiting her.
The EFF has been hit with a series of resignations, including Floyd Shivambu, Mpho Morolane, and Fana Mokoena, many of whom are rumoured to be joining the MK party.
