Johannesburg – Severe thunderstorms hit Johannesburg after 4pm on Tuesday, causing multiple motorists to become stranded, especially along Klipspruit Valley Road in Soweto.
Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) dispatched Aquatic Rescue Unit teams to assist.
Despite heavy rainfall, no major incidents were reported overnight or by Wednesday morning.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had issued a level 4 warning, cautioning that storms could lead to localised flooding and infrastructure damage.
More thunderstorms are expected in five provinces, including Gauteng.
Authorities urged motorists to stay cautious, avoid flooded roads, and stay updated on weather alerts.
