Cape Town – Deputy President Paul Mashatile will take a week off to recover after collapsing during a weekend event in Tzaneen, his office has said.
Mashatile’s spokesperson, Keith Khoza, confirmed that the deputy president is following doctor’s advice to rest and will reschedule his National Council of Provinces appearance.
Mashatile was set to attend the National Council of Provinces on Thursday evening but requested a postponement.
“While the deputy president is no longer in any danger and is in high spirits, he is following the medical team’s advice and has withdrawn from scheduled official duties for the current week,” Khoza said in a statement.
