Cape Town — Bongani Baloyi has ended his time with the Xiluva Party and opted to join Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
Reports circulated earlier this week that Baloyi would leave the Xiluva Party for the MK Party.
Baloyi started the Xiluva Party after stints with the Democratic Alliance (DA) and ActionSA. The party performed poorly during the 2024 elections and it was thought it would merge with the MK party as it had similar ideologies.
Speaking during a media briefing, Baloyi was unveiled as an MK member and his members would formally join the MK party.
“The executive of Xiluva unanimously agreed we are going to deregister Xiluva with the IEC effective immediately, the collective leadership will join the MK Party and the collective leaders will encourage members to join the MK Party. We send our sincere appreciation and thanks to our members for the collective contribution, sacrifices and commitment, and as disciplined members, we encourage them to take their membership to the MK party,” he said.

“We believe that this is a solid and sound decision. Today, we are presenting ourselves to uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party and its collective leadership as forces of the revolution, ready to serve,”Baloyi said, according to EWN.
“We recognise that this is what this moment in time calls for. We can no longer sit idly on the sidelines, complaining, divided, tweeting, and not taking any action,” he said.
Baloyi believes Zuma is building a strong movement that can be a good alternative to the African National Congress (ANC).
He is the second person to join the MK Party in the past 24 hours after former EFF student command leader, Mpho Morolane announced his resignation from the EFF.
