Cape Town — Pastor Mboro appeared in court on Tuesday, defying his lawyers’ advice to avoid speaking to the media before the proceedings.
Mboro is facing charges of kidnapping and possession of a dangerous weapon following an incident at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong, where he allegedly entered the school grounds armed and threatened to take two children, reportedly his grandchildren.
At the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, Mboro was seeking bail after being denied during his initial appearance. While waiting for the proceedings to begin, he spoke to the media despite his lawyer’s pleas to remain silent.

“No, ntlogeleng lona (leave me alone)… I am trusting God,” the pastor said as he continued to answer questions, ignoring his lawyer’s repeated pleas to remain silent.
He insisted that his ordeal was not due to his actions but because of his fame.
“I am trusting God. God is good and the truth will always prevail. I am being punished because I am popular, I am not treated fairly. It’s just because I am famous. I have done a lot for this community. This is not a matter of the nation fighting pastor Mboro,” he said.
When asked about his experience in the holding cells, Mboro claimed that God had performed wonders there, even saying that some people had given up drugs.
At that point, his lawyer stepped in, telling reporters that his client would speak to them later, before pushing them away.
