Cape Town – Dada Morero has been sworn in as the mayor of Johannesburg for the second time, securing 189 votes from councillors.

The ceremony was attended by key political figures, including leaders from ActionSA, the EFF, and the DA.

Soon after being sworn in, Morero broke into a Christian song just before delivering his acceptance speech.

“I should have done this during my first acceptance speech in September 2022; maybe I would have stayed longer than 25 days,” he said.

Morero, who previously served a brief term as mayor in 2022, emphasised his commitment to ensuring continuous service delivery in the city.

His re-election is part of a coalition agreement with ActionSA.
