Cape Town — A multidisciplinary team led an investigation into another suspected illegal military training camp in Modimolle, Limpopo, after firearms and ammunition were found on the premises.
The team comprised the Hawks, Public Order Police and its Tactical Response Team, who raided the Modimolle farm and found licensed firearms, rifles, and ammunition at the camp.
Hawks spokesperson, Lethunya Muroa said the camp’s purpose was unclear but could not rule out how the weapons ended up on the farm, and it is still under investigation. Muroa said no arrests have been made yet either, EWN reported.

This is the 2nd discovery of a military-style training camp in recent weeks, after 95 Libyan nationals were found on a farm that had been converted into a military camp in White River, Mpumalanga.
According to News24, the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Psira) found that the military camp where the Libyan nationals were found, was operating illegally.
During a media briefing, Psira CEO, Manabela Chauke, said the owners of Milites Dei Security Services (MDSS) in White River were hit with suspension letters. Chauke added that the investigations found a second military camp located just 7.5km away from the first one.
He said the training programme and its duration at the second facility were longer than the normal accredited security training.
“The second training facility is the same facility referred to as the illegal Libyan military training camp. Investigations discovered that the authority never accredited the Libyan military training camp,” Chauke said.
