Cape Town – The uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party says it has not been officially informed of former president Jacob Zuma’s expulsion from the African National Congress (ANC), despite leaked draft documents revealing the decision.
The ANC’s National Disciplinary Committee expelled Zuma for allegedly compromising the party’s integrity by working with uMkhonto weSizwe (MK).
“The charged member is expelled from the ANC,” said a leaked documen dated July 29.
“The charged member has the right to appeal to the National Disciplinary Committee of appeal within 21 days.”

The ANC suspended Zuma in January after he endorsed the newly formed MK.
In an interview with SABC, MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela expressed disappointment at the ANC’s handling of the situation, noting that neither Zuma, MK leaders, nor their legal team had received formal notification of the expulsion.
“We are very disappointed at the conduct of the ANC. We find ourselves having to respond to ourselves you know of the back of a document circulating on social media, when we haven’t actually received this formally. Neither President Jacob Zuma, Comrade Tony Yengeni or even our legal team has had sight of any formal correspondence. So we are quite shocked that this is the status or the decision that they have taken,” Ndhlela said.
