Cape Town — Mama Joy, whose real name is Joy Chauke, has triumphed in the ongoing drama with Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie.
Despite recent controversies and the minister’s halt on sponsored trips, the superfan has been flaunting her trip to Paris for the upcoming Olympics on social media.
The sports enthusiast, who’s been in the spotlight for public debates over travel sponsorships, recently shared her excitement on X.
She posted vibrant photos of herself at OR Tambo International Airport, eagerly anticipating her flight on Air France, which was scheduled for Thursday, July 25.
With her hair styled in eye-catching braids in the colours of the South African flag, Mama Joy not only hinted at the Olympic festivities but also teased a visit to her French boyfriend, who according to The South African she had met last year during the Rugby World Cup.
“Mamajoy to the Olympics Paris Papajoy am coming @ChrisExcel102 SA Mamajoy Mamajoy ,,,,” she wrote.

Who Footed the Bill?
With Gayton McKenzie having put a stop to sponsored trips for superfans, many are curious about who funded Mama Joy’s trip to the Olympics.
In a recent interview with eNCA, the superfan revealed that she usually covers her own expenses, including transport, accommodation, and match tickets.

As long as this trip wasn’t paid for by the Department of Sports and Arts, we don’t have a problem. Travel safely to the Olympics in France. 😉

Do you think this is fair? Who is paying for your tickest? The guy you met in the world cup?
