Polokwane – Police in Westenburg have arrested a 44-year-old male suspect following a shooting incident that occurred during an eviction at Ga-Rena Rental Village in Ladanna, outside Polokwane.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said that preliminary investigations revealed that an altercation erupted between the suspect and enforcement officials during the enforcement of an eviction order at the suspect’s residence.
“During the commotion, the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm, injuring two people in the process. Both victims were immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment,” said Mashaba.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and placed in police custody.
Two firearms, including one believed to have been used in the shooting, were confiscated and will undergo ballistic testing.
The suspect, who reportedly owns a security company, is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of attempted murder.
Police investigations are ongoing.
