Cape Town – Tsonga musician and reality TV star Papa Penny, Brian Molefe, Lucky Montana, and Siyabonga Gama are set to join the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in Parliament.
According to EWN, the party’s chief whip, Sihle Ngubane, confirmed they are finalising administrative requirements for their swearing-in.
The three men are disgraced former executives accused of aiding state capture, while Penny Penny recently quit the African National Congress (ANC) due to mistreatment, the report said.
“Papa Penny was a staunch member of the ANC and has been sidelined by those at the helm. Issues such as boreholes in his area were a headache for him, and whenever he raised his concerns, the leaders’ answers were allegedly a contradiction to his mandate as a councilor,” TshisaLive quoted a source as saying at the time.
“He felt [former president and MKP leader Jacob] Zuma can hopefully listen to his cries if he gets into power and attend to the demands of his community,” said another.
Ngubane defended the party’s decision, citing their commitment to rehabilitating and reinstating professionals rejected by “white monopoly capital.”
