Zakes Bantwini celebrates 20 years in the music industry

Cape Town — Award-winning South African musician and producer, Zakes Bantwini, held a special music extravaganza to commemorate 20 years in the music industry.

Zakes held a special 20th-anniversary concert at the Durban ICC on Friday night and featured some of the biggest artists in South Africa including Mi Casa, Major League DJz, Sun El Musician, Sjava, and a performance from Zakes Bantwini himself.

Speaking to TimesLIVE, Bantwini was described as a polymath and explained his success in the industry. He said that through the years, he has received a lot of praise in the sector and said he was equipped to succeed within multiple disciplines in the music industry. He also explained the emotions he felt after the event.

“I got emotional at the end. Almost everyone that I wish would be here, most people that I wish were here are not. My mother, my dad, you know, three of my best friends are not here,” said Bantwini.

“These are people that I know how much this moment would mean to have them here right now, but they are not here,” he said.

IOL reported Zakes reflected on his success through the past 20 years.

“Collaboration has always been at the heart of my success. Working with talented artists and creating music that resonates on a global scale has been incredibly fulfilling.

“As I look back on the past 20 years, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and excited for what the future holds.”
