Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has criticised DA leader John Steenhuisen amid ongoing debates about forming a coalition government after no party secured a two-thirds majority in the recent elections.
The ANC proposed a government of national unity, which Malema rejected, saying the EFF cannot share power with “the enemy”.
According to The Citizen, analyst William Gumede warned that such a stance could lead to civil war and poverty.
Amidst the debate over Malema’s comments, leaders pointed to a report from Steenhuisen’s re-election speech, in which he declared the EFF leader as the enemy.
“You invited us and we accepted. You thought we would be typical blacks and egg work around you. Not today, Satan!,” Malema said on X on Sunday.

Malema had, days earlier, criticised the government of national unity and condemned the “arrogance” of those setting terms as if they had won a majority.
“The arrogance continues even after the South African voters issued warning signs. You can’t dictate the way forward as if you have won elections.
“We are not desperate for anything, ours is a generational mission,” the report quoted Malema as saying.
