Cape Town — Leader of the African Congress for Transformation (ACT), Ace Magashule, said his party is in coalition talks with at least eight parties as he awaits the outcome of the elections.
Magashule said his party would be more than willing to enter coalition talks, namely with two of the African National Congress’ (ANC) rivals, namely Jacob Zima’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) and the Malema-led Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
All three men were ousted from the ANC through their political careers and the potential coalitions would be to take votes away from the ruling party, EWN reported.
Magashule, who voted in Parys, Free State and said that the talks have already begun.
“Why can’t we work with ATM [African Transformation Movement]? Why can’t we work with EFF [Economic Freedom Fighters] ? Why can’t we work with MK? Why can’t we work with [Bantu] Holomisa? Why can’t we work with Hlaudi [Motsoeneng]? Why can’t we work with independents – I don’t know if we can do it.” he said.
Magashule said his party has brought dignity to children in the Free State and now the party intends to bring dignity to all South African children. Magashule saifd the party will priortise education, land, jobs, health for all South Africans.
Magashule addressed allegations of internal struggles within the ACT party but he denied those claims, saying those who left the party for the ANC, were not real members of the ACT.
