Cape Town — The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has denied allegations that the party’s national head of communications and spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, was fired from the party.
The MK Party’s provincial co-ordinator, Simphiwer Mpungose, rejected the allegations that have circulated on various groups and paltforms, and confirmed that Ndhlela is still in his current role, the party said in a statement.
“The MK Party provincial leadership in KZN rejects with the contempt it deserves, the allegations that Mr Nhlamulo Ndhlela, the national head of communications and the MK Party spokesperson, has been relieved of his duties.” Mpungose said.
“We regard these ill-informed allegations as malicious and an attempt to sow panic and divisions among the membership and supporters of the Mkhonto Wesizwe Party (MKP). We want to categorically confirm that Mr. Nhlamulo Ndhlela remains the MKPs’ National Head of Communications and Spokesperson of our organisation.” Mpungose said.

The MK Party in KZN has cleared the air on its national spokesperson l, Nhlamulo Ndhlela following rumours that he has been axed due to the appointment of Vincent Mdunge as spokesperson. pic.twitter.com/UWYmih1iew— SiyabongaG2 (@SiyabongaG2) May 15, 2024
The announcement comes after the party appointed former provincial SAPS spokesperson, Vincent Mdunge, as provincial spokesperson for KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). There was an outcry following the announcement of Mdunge as the MKP’S provincial spin doctor. This was due to Mdunge’s dark past over allegations that he faked his matric, IOL reported.
Mdunge was found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison, starting in 2015. He started serving his term in 2017 after losing his appeal in the high Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein. He was released on parole in 2019.
