Cape Town – The MK Party has announced plans to enhance security measures for former president Jacob Zuma ahead of his appearance before the ANC’s disciplinary committee.
Zuma, who is currently suspended by the ANC while leading the MK party, will be provided with additional protection, including bringing their own cutlery, drinking water, and a chair to the hearing, MK party spokesperson Nhlamulo said, according to The Citizen.
This decision stems from concerns over Zuma’s safety following multiple reported attempts on his life, said Nhlamulo.
The party intends to accompany Zuma to the hearing and asserts its mistrust of the ANC’s handling of the situation.
Zuma faces an ANC disciplinary hearing for endorsing the MK party and appearing on its candidate list.
The ANC officially announced on Thursday that Zuma is slated to undergo an ANC disciplinary hearing next Tuesday for breaching party regulations.
During an interview with Newzroom Afrika, the MK Party questioned the timing of the hearing, suggesting the ANC should have waited until after the elections.
