Cape Town – A 29-year-old man from Free State has been sentenced to double life terms for the murder of his ex-girlfriend and girlfriend at the time in March 2019.
John Kali was convicted on two counts of murder for killing Seipati Masangane and Malehlohonolo Moletsane, who were friends and lived with him.
Masangane disappeared after returning to collect her clothes from Kali’s residence, with her decomposing body later found in his sheep and goat kraal, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.
“Weeks following her disappearance, neighbours were called by an unbearable smell coming from the accused’s sheep and goat kraal. And when the neighbours confronted the accused, he confessed to having killed Seipati,” said NPA regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane.
Kali confessed to killing her.
While on bail, he continued his relationship with Moletsane, who was later found dead and buried in Kali’s yard after confronting him about Masangane’s death.
The court found Kali guilty, highlighting his calculated crimes against trusting victims.
He showed no remorse and was sentenced to two life terms.
