Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs reportedly died following a shooting during a hijacking incident in Johannesburg on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old was fatally shot at a petrol station while awaiting assistance.
Two armed suspects instructed him to exit his car and shot him in the upper body before fleeing with his vehicle.
“While waiting to be served by the petrol attendant, he was confronted by two armed males who came driving a white BMW 1 Series.
“The suspects pointed him with a firearm and took him out of his vehicle, then shot him once on the upper body. One suspect drove off with the victim’s car followed by his accomplice,” Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said.
Despite being rushed to a medical centre, Fleurs was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police have initiated an investigation, but no arrests have been made yet.
