Cape Town — The GOOD Party held its political manifesto in Rivonia, Johannesburg on Saturday and party leader, Patricia De Lille, outlined the part’s plan of action should it be elected into power.
De Lille said it is crucial for government to implement policies that will allow for the rebuilding of the economy as well as for job creation and basic service delivery. GOOD Party secretary-general, Brett Herron, announced the party’s 10-point plan to help deliver basic services, IOL reported.
This included job creation through small business investment, bringing an end to load shedding, fighting crime and corruption and introducing a “Basic Income Grant of R999 to cushion people.
De Lille said the party’s manifesto was to rebalance society, saying the promises made by political parties would not materialise after the elections if government structures remained the same.

“The Good manifesto is our recipe to rebalance society. The promises the parties are making won’t materialise on June 1, 2024 because the structure of government will be the same, the same structure that struggled to deliver to the nation’s satisfaction. If we don’t change the structure we will achieve no more than changing the positions of the deck chairs on the Titanic.” she said.
According to SABC News, De Lille said that, unlike most political parties, the GOOD Party can can be trusted for ethical leadership. De Lille is famously known for blowing the arms deal corruption which cost the country billions of rands.
“When I blew the whistle on the arms deal, I was not solely motivated by the desire to damage the ruling party’s reputation but by values. Later as the Mayor of the City of Cape Town, I obtained a string of clean audits. Then when corrupt civil servants in Public Works procuring the erection of the fence at Beitbridge, I called in the SIU and officials were suspended and I moved across to Tourism amongst my first action was to stop the crooked Tottenham Hotspur deal and we saved the country R1 billion.” she said.
According to EWN, De Lille also said the country’s policies were modelled on systems borrowed from other countries, which does not work for South Africa.
