Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Dipuo Peters, following a sanction from Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members Interests.
In a statement of Friday, the Presidency announced that the deputy minister has received written notification of her suspension.
The decision comes in the wake of a sanction imposed by Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members Interests, which determined that the deputy minister, in her previous role as minister of transport, violated the Code of Ethical Conduct.
As a result, Peters has been sanctioned and suspended for one term.

“The suspension, which will be without pay, became effective on 28 February 2024 and will end on 28 March 2024,” said the Presidency.
The Western Cape High Court had earlier dismissed Peters’s urgent application to halt her suspension from parliamentary activities.
The ethics committee identified violations related to Peters’s failure to appoint a Group CEO for the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) and her use of PRASA buses for ANC events without payment.
