Cape Town – A man in Klopperpark, Gauteng’s East Rand, was arrested after taking his wife, children, and a family friend hostage.
When police arrived, he fired shots at them and also shot the family friend, police spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo said.
“The Saps hostage negotiator and task team were summoned to the scene. The suspect released all the other victims and surrendered himself to the police.
“He was then arrested and will be charged with four counts of attempted murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm,” Masondo said.
The wounded police officers and the family friend were transported to the closest hospital, and according to Masondo, they are currently in a “serious but stable” condition.
