Cape Town — Duduzane Zuma, the son of former President Jacob Zuma, said the country was in need of something different and fresh as he chose not to join his father’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, and instead, start his own.
Duduzane announced plans to start his own political party, called the “All Game Changers”, just months after his father decided he would no longer campaign for the ANC, instead choosing to side with the newly-formed MK party.
He said his decision to start the new party was because he wanted to see new and fresh ideas, including moving away from those of the ANC, TimesLIVE reported.
“I think it has been a long period of the same faces and same ideology. We need something new and fresh and we are those people. The ANC has had some massive strides and some losses. But where we are at, I do not think it is the best [party] to address challenges the country faces. They are not able to evolve at this point. We need new people, we need new visionaries. Everyone needs everyone to put their shoulder to the wheel.” Duduzane said.

He said that there was no bad blood between him and his father, as he had given him a “heads up” on the situation. He promised that his party’s political manifesto would focus on bringing solutions to troubles such as loadshedding and service delivery, while also ensuring that the youth need not rely solely on social welfare.
As reported by IOL, Duduzane said he wanted to make changes to the constitution should his party take over governance, while also making social changes to ensure the playing fields were levelled for everyone.
Zuma said they preferred to make politics a lifestyle and hold people to account and wanted people to be part of the change. The party manifesto would be made available to the public “in due course”.
