Cape Town — Minister of International Relations, Naledi Pandor, was shocked at Germany serving a South African social commentator with a summons for her stance on the Middle East conflict.
Pandor said she was surprised to discover that Malaika Mahlatsi had been served with an indictment for allegedly rewarding and awarding a crime. Mahlatsi has been a vocal supporter of the South African government’s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, supporting their case against Israel. She has been prominent on social media on her position towards Israel, EWN reported.
Pandor’s views on Germany serving a South African social commentator with a summons over what is believed to be her support of the people of Gaza is unequivocal.
“To be frank, from an established democracy, I find it to be quite shocking but we know Germany’s view – they wrote to us indicating their displeasure at us going to the ICJ and that they would be supporting Israel.” Pandor said.
Malaika Mahlatsi’s in Germany studying her PhD and is now hounded by the German government for her views on the war in Palestine. She’s been accused for amongst others rewarding a crime. Can’t be running your mouth in a foreign country of Nazis denouncing Nazism. Germany isn’t SA

Germany has indicated that it would intervene on behalf of Israel at the ICJ. The report issued to Mahlatsi said she was ordered to appear in a German court, but she is currently in South Africa.
Pandor is currently facing security concerns after she claimed Israeli intelligence is attempting to intimidate her after South Africa decided to take Israel to the International Court of Justice for genocide. She expressed concern for her family’s safety after she received threatening messages on social media.
“The Israeli agents, the intelligence services, this is how they behave, and they seek to intimidate you, so we must not be intimidated.” she said.
