Cape Town – A 19-year-old teenage boy was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting outside his home in Pelican Terrace, Dawncrest, Verulam on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast around 7pm on a Saturday night.
Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) responded to reports of the incident, finding the boy shot multiple times and deceased.
The boy’s mother was also shot multiple times in the leg and was taken to the hospital.
“His mother was shot multiple times on her leg. She was expedited privately to hospital. It is alleged that two (2) men entered the yard and opened fire on the female & her son,” Rusa said.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, and charges of murder and attempted murder are being investigated by the Verulam SA Police Service.
No suspects have been arrested.
