Cape Town – Interpol is reportedly searching for a Swazi woman suspected of fleeing to her home country after a failed kidnapping attempt in Soweto, South Africa.
The incident involved the death of a four-year-old girl, Keeya Mbulawa, who was found unconscious in a tenant’s travelling bag, The Citizen reported.
The child spent four days in intensive care before passing away, the report said.

The suspect is believed to be in her thirties, and there are suspicions that she intended to take the child to eSwatini for use in muthi rituals, a practice common in southern Africa.
The family is working with authorities in both countries to facilitate the suspect’s arrest and extradition.
Advocate Miller Moela, appointed as a legal representative closely monitoring the case on behalf of the family, said that Swazi authorities are actively searching for the woman.
“There are suspicions that she is in Swaziland already, so paperwork is being sorted out between the two countries so that when she is arrested, there are no problems bringing her back here,” the report quoted Moela as saying.
The funeral for Keeya is scheduled for Thursday.
