Cape Town – Police in Mpumalanga are on a manhunt following a mass shooting at Chisa Mpama tavern in Kgobokwane near Siyabuswa.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on Sunday, when a group of armed suspects entered the tavern, wielding high-caliber firearms, and began shooting randomly, said police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli.
“According to a report, a group of armed suspects is said to have stormed into the tavern. The suspects were reportedly carrying high-calibre firearms and began shooting randomly.
“Three victims died at the scene and a fourth, who was taken to hospital for treatment, succumbed to the injuries sustained,” said Mdhluli.
Police are investigating four counts of murder and multiple counts of attempted murder, he said.
The motive for the shootings is currently unknown, and a team has been assembled to track down the suspects, with no arrests made yet.
