Cape Town – A 41-year-old woman was fatally shot in Strand, Cape Town on Monday, when a gunman, armed with two weapons, opened fire on her while she was in her silver Toyota Fortuner in a municipal office parking lot.
The victim was shot multiple times, police spokesperson Capt FC van Wyk said.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 am through the driver’s side window.
“The suspect then walked away and got into a white Opel Astra and drove off. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” said Van Wyk.
The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation.
Following the incident, the municipal building was closed for the day, and an active crime scene was established for further investigation by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
