Cape Town — South African entertainer, MacG, was awarded as the Entertainer of the Year at the GQ Men of the Year Award show that took place in Johannesburg.
The host of the Podcast and Chill with MacG has established himself as the leading podcast host in South Africa and has pushed boundaries with some of his content.
Taking to Instagram, GQ paid tribute to MaC and his Entertainer of the Year award recognising him for some of work with some of the biggest names in South Africa such as Black Coffee and Julius Malema.
“Radio DJ and house record producer MacGyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He has taken the digital space by storm with his YouTube podcast, ‘Podcast and Chill,’ the number one podcast in Africa, renowned for its candid and conversations with esteemed personalities such as Black Coffee, John Kani, Connie Chiume, Julius Malema, Zola 7 and Oskido, among many others,” GQ said.
MacG’s podcast became the first one and only podcast so far to hit 1 million subscribers.

According to The Citizen, The GQ Men of The Year Awards pay homage to trailblazers within South Africa, who are shaping the cultural landscape and pushing boundaries in their respective fields.
“Throughout this year we have witnessed a remarkable sequence of culturally defining events and encountered a multitude of remarkable individuals who have not only inspired, but excelled, within their industries,” says Molife Kumona, Editor-in-Chief GQ South Africa.
Some of the other notable winners included Angus Gibson, who was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award for the work he’s done through production house, Bomb Productions.
The Springboks walked away with Team of the Year, while Uncle Waffles walked away with GQ Women of the Year.
