Cape Town – A man in his 50s is celebrating the “best December” of his life after winning R25,287,948.10 in the Powerball Plus jackpot on December 1.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Pick ‘n Pay in Pretoria, according to the National Lottery operator, Ithuba.
The fortunate winner, a long-time player of the National Lottery in South Africa, expressed his belief that his day to win would come despite never winning before.
He plans to rent out his current home and buy a new house in the suburbs.
“The winner intends to invest the rest of his winnings to ensure financial growth and to comfortably retire,” said Ithuba in a statement.
The remainder of his winnings will be invested for financial growth and a comfortable retirement.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza congratulated the winner, stating that such victories embody the dreams and aspirations represented by the National Lottery.
“These exceptional victories encapsulate the dreams and aspirations symbolised by the National Lottery.”
