Cape Town — Family of the alleged insurance killer have labelled her “greedy” and “vile” after she allegedly killed family members to get insurance claims.
Agnes Segemotsi Setshwantsho is set to appear in court on 6 December and currently faces four charges against her, including fraud, murder and defeating the ends of justice, eNCA reported.
Her relatives still feel aggrieved by her actions and have described her in many ways, the report said.
“Our relationship with her has never been good. We still believe if our brother did not meet her, he could still be alive. My brother was the breadwinner at home. He took care of us, he paid for our school. That’s until Segemotsi came into his life,” Itireleng Setshwantsho, the accused’s brother-in-law, said.
Another family member, George Botlhoko, said: “She was very close with my late daughter. She killed my daughter and she’s buried at the cemetery, yet she was ta the ATMs, busy enjoying the money I’m still in shock. Our family is still left with so many questions.”
Setshwantsho also faces fraud charges after she hired someone to impersonate her niece to purchase a R3m life cover.
The state ruled that Setshwantsho should not be granted bail but she has denied the allegations against her, and her lawyer has said she has done nothing wrong in the matter.
“The problem with this matter is that it has a history of its own, and that has come alive today. We are trying to swing through that part of the history and get to the point where justice is dispensed. My belief or instruction is that she has done nothing wrong, she is merely answering to a witchunt, which we do not know,” he said.
