Cape Town – An Eastern Cape pensioner has won over R8 million in a PowerBall jackpot, marking a new chapter of prosperity for him.
The former mining employee turned handyman has aspirations of using his winnings to create a comfortable future for his family and pursue his dream of running a construction business.
The life-changing win came from a ticket purchased at a Boxer Superstore in Gqeberha for the PowerBall draw held on November 17.
The winner realised his fortune while watching the PowerBall draw on e.tv and confirmed his winnings the next day at a store.
Ithuba, the operator of the National Lottery, congratulated the winner, emphasising the story as one of resilience, renewed dreams, and a brighter future.
“This is not only a win. It’s a tale of resilience, renewed dreams and a brighter future ahead. It’s a testament to the transformative power of the National Lottery,” said Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
