Cape Town – The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has temporarily halted the search for the bodies of two individuals who were swept away by the Klip River during a cleansing ritual near Olifantsvlei.
The victims, believed to be 18 and 21 years old, were part of a ritual on Saturday night.
The EMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, said that the search and recovery operation will resume on Monday morning.
He emphasised the importance of caution during baptism rituals to prevent such incidents.
“Traditional healers, prophets, and pastors are urged to ensure the safety of congregants while conducting these cleansing/baptism rituals,” said EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi,” said Mulaudzi.
