Cape Town — Some of South Africa’s top comedians have broken their silence about their participation in Trevor Noah’s new comedy show on Amazon called LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa.
The show will be hosted by Trevor Noah and will see South African comedians compete against other comedians and celebrities, keeping a straight face while trying to make the others laugh. The winner will take home a grand prize of R1 million, which will go to a charity of their choice, The Citizen reported.
According to EWN, a total of 10 comedians and celebrities will be competing. The full list includes comedians Jason Goliath, Robby Collins, Celeste Ntuli, Glen Biderman-Pam, Tumi Morake, Moonchild Sanelly and Mojak Lehoko.
They will be joined by media personalities, Lasizwe, Nomzamo Mbatha and Thando Thabethe.
“I’m excited to be back home to host Prime Video’s first South African Original, ‘LOL: Last One Laughing’. I am equally delighted with the opportunity to work alongside my fellow homegrown comedy stars on a show that not only entertains, but gives back to the South African production and charity communities.” Trevor Noah said.
Many of the participants in the new show could not contain their excitement as they took to social media to announce their participation in the show, which is set to air in early 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.
