Cape Town – A 20-year-old University of Fort Hare student, Minentle Noqhamka, has reportedly passed away in a hospital after allegedly being struck by a police nyala during the Springboks’ victory parade in East London on November 5.
According to Times Live, Minentle had gone to the East London CBD for shopping but joined the crowd in front of East London city hall to witness the parade.
She was reportedly hit on her legs by a police nyala, resulting in the amputation of her left leg, the report said.
Minentle’s family is devastated, and they are still grappling with the tragic incident.
“It’s very sad for us as a family. We are still trying to come to terms with this,” the report quoted Minentle’s father Sithembiso as saying.
