Johannesburg – Severe weather, including a massive hailstorm, reportedly caused damage to the Southern Sun Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
The hailstorm impacted various parts of the city, damaging properties, vehicles, municipal infrastructure, and covering roads with hail.

There were no reported injuries or fatalities at the hotel.
However, the establishment suffered partial structural collapse, particularly in the dining area, leading to the evacuation of all occupants for safety reasons.
“Everyone who was there had to be evacuated because the roof in the dining area collapsed and for safety reasons, people had to be evacuated,” EWN quoted Joburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson Xolile Khumalo as saying.
