Johannesburg — South African actress, Connie Ferguson, was honoured at the recent National Film and TV Awards (NFTV), including an honorary award for her late husband, Shona Ferguson.
The award show took place at the Opera Theatre in Joburg and Connie was one of the big winners on the night, as she scooped three awards.
She won Outstanding Performance of the year, Celebrity Personality of the Year and Best TV Drama Series and she was incredibly proud of her achievement, The Citizen said.
“I am really honoured and blessed to win this award and thank you to NFTA and all who voted for us. This is the first year and I am looking forward to celebrating next year and many more years to come with the National Film & TV Awards South Africa,” she said.
She was incredibly proud to accept the award for Best TV Drama Series of the year, which was won y Kings of Joburg, a show that she described as “Shona’s brainchild”.
“My husband came up with the concept of Kings of Joburg. We needed to honour him; we kept his memory alive in story. So Simon is still a big part of the story, even though the physicality of the character is not there. So I think people are really going to enjoy what we’ve done with this one.” she added.
