The current situation in Gaza has been escalated and many innocent Palestinian people have died. According to eNCA, A Palestine-based organisation, Defense for Children International, says Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian child approximately every 15 minutes since the war began.
Meanwhile, the ANC joined a march in solidarity with the people of Palestine. According to IOL, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said they have joined the march in solidarity with Palestine.
“We rise for peace in Palestine, but more importantly, we are rising in solidarity with people of Palestine,” she said.

Speaking at the march, ANC deputy Secretary General, Nomvula Mokonyane, gave her points of concern over the current situation and explained what she thought needed to be done in order to help the innocent people of Gaza. She called on the African Union, the United Nations and the ICC to get more urgently involved
“The reason why we are here, is to take to the streets and demonstrate our solidarity, together with many other South Africans. We are also calling for an emergency AU meeting, that government must consider, to talk to our people in Africa to find solutions. We want to add the United Nations secretary general that they can go in and lift the blockade of transportation of medicine and food to the people there.”
