Cape Town – A 21-year-old Walter Sisulu University (WSU) student in the Eastern Cape, Mthatha, was tragically killed in a fire that consumed his residence room, reports say.
Despite efforts by municipal firefighters, it was too late to save the student, News24 quoted police spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo

The police have not released the student’s identity as the next of kin have yet to be informed.
The university’s spokesperson, Yonela Tukwayo, said that a report from the forensics department will shed light on the cause of the fire and assured that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of their students and staff.
