Lira shocked fans when she suffered a stroke while in Germany in April 2022. She spent much of the past year recovering as the stroke had affected much of her speech.
In her first interview since the stroke, she revealed she was diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension.
According to TimesLIVE, Lira said she did not want to take life for granted and said that life itself was the one goof thing that came from her stroke.
“People have been asking me to share my story but I wasn’t ready because I couldn’t talk. I wasn’t ready to speak in a conversation, but now I’m ready and my speech impediment doesn’t bother me as it did before. I’m here to share my story.”
“I don’t take anything for granted. It has made me value life more. When you have a stroke it calms you from the stress of life. When I’m stressed I can’t speak, so it is important for me to keep calm and peaceful.”
