Cape Town — South African musician DJ Zinhle wrote a beautiful message of support to her daughter, Kairo Forbes, after she performed a tribute to her dad, AKA, at the Galaxy 947 Joburg Day.
The event was a tribute to the late artist and featured performances from some of SA’s biggest artists, including AKA’s girlfriend, Nadia Nakai, who brought Kairo out on stage with her to perform.
“I love her so much! 🥰 She did so amazing tonight!!! Her dad would’ve been so proud! Thank you to the @themegaband for tonight!!!! ❤️ @947joburg”

DJ Zinhle was also one of the performers at the event and she took to Instagram to reveal that, after Kairo performed, she wrote how heartbroken Kairo was that she no longer had her father around.
“After bravely performing her dad’s song in front of thousands of people, my 8 year old broke down crying saying she just misses her daddy & wishes he was here. Actually, Kairo tries a lot to suppress her feelings and this is one of the few times I’ve seen her cry like that”
Zinhle said this all happened as she was getting ready to perform as she praised Nadia for being brave enough to take over, despite all the emotions she was going through.
“Halfway into my first song, @kairo.forbes was standing next me – check the last slide. You can see that she literally wiped her tears and stood bravely next to me. I am so proud of her but I wish she didn’t need to be so brave. I just wish she still had her dad.”
