Cape Town – In a tragic and shocking incident, a 65-year-old man named Matthys Van Niekerk was brutally murdered on a farm in the Eastern Cape.
His lifeless body, with multiple stab wounds and a slit throat, was discovered last Wednesday on a farm near route R390, close to Cradock.
Colleagues found the gruesome scene after he failed to show up for work, The Citizen reported.
Van Niekerk, a resident engineer working on a road reconstruction project in the area, had been living on the farm for the expected three-year duration of the project.

Police are urgently searching for a potential suspect, Andrew Kroukamp, aged 28, and are appealing to the community for assistance in solving this heinous crime.
“Police are looking for Andrew Kroukamp (28), as it is believed he can assist police in solving the murder case of Matthys Van Niekerk (65), whose body was found with stab wounds at a farm near route R390 outside Cradock.
“Anyone with information that could assist with the whereabouts of Kroukamp is urged to contact the leader of the investigating team on 082 319 8876. The information may also be shared by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS App,” police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said.
