Cape Town – Police in the Eastern Cape are urging caution on social media and in the community following the discovery of a 35-year-old woman’s body on her front lawn on Hampshire Street in Sherwood, Gqeberha.
Her fiancé found her with open wounds on her neck on Thursday, IOL reported.
Provincial police sokesperson Priscilla Naidu said it is alleged that around 5.40pm, the woman’s fiancé returned home accompanied by her daughter and discovered her lying on the lawn.
“At this stage, no foul play is suspected due to information at police disposal. A post mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” the report quoted her as saying.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the precise cause of her death, Naidu said, according to ALGOA FM.
Law enforcement called upon the community, particularly those using social media, to avoid making conjectures and to permit the investigation to proceed unhindered.
The identity of the deceased individual was not disclosed to the public.
