Cape Town – A 70-year-old man from Cape Town has claimed his prize of over R49.9 million from a recent PowerBall jackpot draw.
He bought the winning ticket through his FNB banking app, choosing a R15 Quick Pick ticket and ultimately winning R49 934 523.
The winner said he intended to use the prize money to provide for his family, including his three children and four grandchildren.
“This prize gives me the means to secure a comfortable future for my family.

“My three children and four grandchildren will now have the opportunity to live comfortably and without financial worries. It’s a dream come true to know that they will be taken care of,” he said.
He thanked Ithuba, the organisation behind the National Lottery, for their support during the prize claiming process.
The CEO of Ithuba, Charmaine Mabuza, was pleased that the winner planned to secure a comfortable future for his family and saw the win as an example of the positive impact the National Lottery aims to achieve.
“We are humbled to have played a role in enabling this winner to provide a secure and comfortable future for his family. The National Lottery is about creating opportunities that touch lives and make lasting differences. This win exemplifies that mission,” she said in statement.
