Cape Town – The political party ActionSA has reportedly said that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) does not belong in the moonshot pact due to differences in their ideological views, which are not in line with the majority of other opposition parties.
The moonshot pact is a coalition of opposition parties aiming to take power away from the African National Congress (ANC) in the 2024 general elections.
The pact’s goal is to bring together at least seven parties to collaborate.
Julius Malema recently expressed disappointment at not being invited to join the pact.
“The opposition parties should come together to unseat the ANC.

“If the DA had invited us, we would have come onboard.
“But we cannot impose ourselves on the opposition parties. If they don’t want us, we will work with those who want to work with us,” Malema told a press briefing.
According to EWN, ActionSA’s national chairperson, Michael Beaumont, said that while his party doesn’t consider the EFF as the primary enemy, they believe the pact should exclude the EFF due to significant ideological disparities.
“You have to agree on secondary economic direction of the country and other important policy matters that are intrinsically ideological in nature and the EFF’s departure point is so wildly out of kilter with the remainder of the political parties in the South African space,” the report quoted Beaumont assaying.
ActionSA plans to encourage more like-minded parties to participate in the pact.
