Cape Town – The EFF has banned more than 400 leaders from attending its 10th anniversary rally at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, accusing them of failing to arrange sufficient transport for supporters to attend the event.
The party has held various events leading up to the main gathering, where supporters will be addressed by party leaders, including Julius Malema.
However, the lack of organised transport has become a concern for some branches. In response, the EFF named and shamed the leaders responsible and banned them from attending the rally. The list includes MPs and party representatives from the National Council of Provinces.
The EFF said in a statement on Wednesday that the directive to arrange transportation was given on 31 January following a central command team meeting and that the initial deadline was 31 May, but it was extended to the end of June.
“This means that all public representatives had six months to organise transport for their constituencies, with a one-month extension granted. Those who failed to comply did so under this context.”
“All of those whose names appear on the respective lists below, are banned from attending the 10th anniversary rally of the EFF, and further consequences will be explored against them and all those who may have procured a certain amount of transportation, but did not meet the requisite target,” the party said.

The EFF appreciated those who organised transport and emphasised the importance of ensuring the safety and reliability of the vehicles used.
