Cape Town – An explosion reportedly occurred at a chemical factory in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, at a storage company in Spartan, Kempton Park, on a late Wednesday night.
The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire remains unclear, The Citizen reported.
Videos on social media showed massive flames and smoke emanating from the factory.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported according to the Disaster and Emergency Services spokesperson for the city of Ekurhuleni, Eric Maloka.

Firefighters responded promptly and were able to contain the blaze with assistance from other fire stations, the report said.
Hazmat teams were also dispatched to handle any chemical spillages resulting from the incident.
“The nearby residents houses were badly affected by the odour. So, we are monitoring that. We also want to see if there is a need to evacuate them, and we will do if there is,” the report quoted Disaster and Emergency Services spokesperson for the city of Ekurhuleni Eric Maloka as saying.
