Cape Town – The remains of Sinegugu Myeni, a KwaZulu-Natal student who passed away in the Philippines on July 10, will be brought back to South Africa.
According to Times Live, a special prayer service at a chapel in OR Tambo International Airport will mark the arrival of her remains, and KZN premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube will accompany Myeni’s family during this time.
The psychology masters student will be laid to rest on Saturday, the report said.
Dube-Ncube and Zululand district mayor Thulasizwe Buthelezi played crucial roles in facilitating the repatriation process.
Snegugu died at the airport in the Philippines before she could return to South Africa, IOL reported.
After a video of her mother pleading for help to bring her daughter’s body home went viral, the provincial government activated its comprehensive repatriation plan.
