Cape Town – Free State police have located an elderly woman who was filmed enduring racial abuse and assault in a video that surfaced on social media.
Police spokesperson, Captain Loraine Earl, revealed that the video was recorded in November 2020, but the victim was only found on Thursday.
The distressing video shows the elderly woman crying while being racially abused, and at one point, her attacker covers her with a jersey as she shrieks in fear.

Police are now in consultation with the victim and her family to determine if she wants to press charges.
“They are now busy with consultation with her and her family to see if she wants to open a case, otherwise we will take direction from the director of public prosecutions (DPP) if she doesn’t want to open the case,” Times Live quoted Earl as saying.
The provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane, has directed detectives to investigate the matter thoroughly.
“Even though we don’t have any case reported by the victim with regard to this video on our records, but abuse and torture of women in this manner is deemed as being very serious and can’t be left unattended.
“I instructed the investigators to move with a speed and make sure they leave no stone unturned,” Motswenyane said.
